TLDR Tanshinone compounds can help prevent hair loss caused by testosterone.
The study investigates the effects of Tanshinone I and Tanshinone IIA, natural NADPH oxidase inhibitors, on testosterone-induced hair loss using C57BL/6J male mice. Testosterone was applied to the mice's dorsal skin to induce hair loss, followed by topical administration of Tanshinone I and IIA. The results showed that Tanshinone treatment significantly mitigated hair loss, as evidenced by increased hair follicle length compared to the control group. The study suggests that Tanshinone compounds could be potential therapeutic agents for androgenic alopecia by inhibiting oxidative stress pathways.
