Solid effervescent formulations as new approach for topical minoxidil delivery
January 2017
in “European Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences”
TLDR Effervescent formulations may improve minoxidil delivery, increasing effectiveness and reducing applications needed.
This article discusses the use of solid effervescent formulations as a new approach for topical minoxidil delivery. The study found that the effervescent formulations increased the penetration of the drug into the follicular casts and viable skin, potentially increasing treatment effectiveness and reducing the number of applications needed. The study suggests that additional studies are needed to fully understand the targeting potential of the effervescent formulations. Overall, the study concludes that solid effervescent formulations could be a promising approach for topical minoxidil delivery.
