TLDR Changes in skin microbes play a role in some skin diseases and could lead to new treatments.
The review discusses the significant role of the human skin microbiome, which consists of various microbes and their genetic material, in the development of certain skin diseases. It highlights that alterations in the cutaneous microbiota contribute to the pathophysiology of dermatoses such as atopic dermatitis, seborrheic dermatitis, alopecia areata, psoriasis, and acne. Understanding the interactions between the skin microbiome and the immune system could lead to improved comprehension of these conditions and potentially pave the way for new treatments. The review focuses on the latest insights into the skin microbiome's involvement in these skin disorders.
