TLDR Low vitamin D levels may be linked to early hair loss in males.
The study investigated the relationship between serum vitamin D levels and premature androgenetic alopecia (AGA) in males. It was a prospective case-control study involving 100 participants, divided into two groups: 50 males with premature AGA and 50 healthy controls. The results indicated that males with premature AGA had significantly lower serum vitamin D levels compared to the control group. The study suggests that vitamin D deficiency may be associated with the development of premature AGA, highlighting the potential role of vitamin D in hair health. However, the study acknowledges limitations such as the small sample size and the need for further research to establish a causal relationship.
