TLDR PRP helps tissue repair but lacks standard preparation methods.
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a promising tool in biomedicine due to its regenerative properties and potential to promote tissue repair across various medical fields, including orthopedics, dermatology, and urology. It has shown effectiveness in treating conditions like osteoarthritis, androgenetic alopecia, and erectile dysfunction. However, the clinical adoption of PRP is limited by inconsistent preparation standards and treatment protocols. The review emphasizes the need for standardized PRP preparation methods and further research to optimize its clinical applications and confirm its efficacy, especially given the small sample sizes and lack of control groups in existing studies. Despite these challenges, PRP therapy is generally considered safe and cost-effective, with high patient satisfaction.
