TLDR Four PRP with microneedling sessions effectively treat androgenetic alopecia.
The study by Vani Yepuri et al. evaluated the efficacy of Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) with microneedling in treating androgenetic alopecia (AGA) and determined the optimal number of sessions required. Sixty patients who did not respond to minoxidil and finasteride underwent 4-6 PRP sessions at 4-week intervals. Results showed that 66% of patients achieved very good results with four sessions, and only 10 patients needed more than four sessions. Both subjective and objective assessments indicated that PRP with microneedling is an effective treatment for AGA, with no side effects reported. The study concluded that a minimum of four sessions is necessary to achieve very good results.
