TLDR Platelet-rich plasma treatment significantly thickens hair shafts.
The study evaluated the efficacy of different treatments for androgenetic alopecia in 92 men aged 20 to 50. Participants were divided into three groups: group A received microneedling treatments, group B received microneedling plus daily 5% minoxidil, and group C received platelet-rich plasma treatments. All groups experienced an increase in hair number and density, but only group C showed a statistically significant increase in hair shaft thickness. The study highlights the lack of consensus on treatment algorithms for microneedling and platelet-rich plasma, suggesting that the selected minimum effective algorithm provided satisfactory results.
