TLDR Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a promising treatment for hair loss, believed to extend the life cycle of hair follicles and prevent their shrinkage.
The hair loss treatment industry in the United States, currently valued at 3.5 billion dollars, is expected to reach 5.5 billion dollars within the next decade. The majority of these treatments target patterned hair loss. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) has been used as a hair loss treatment since the mid-2000s due to growing interest in cell-based and regenerative medicine. PRP is believed to extend the life cycle of hair follicles and prevent follicle miniaturization. Preliminary studies on the use of PRP in hair restoration have been largely favorable.
