TLDR Inflammation affects hair loss; anti-inflammatory treatments may help.
This article discusses the role of inflammation in male and female pattern hair loss and the potential for anti-inflammatory treatments to improve hair growth. Studies have found chronic inflammation in tissue specimens of MPHL and FPHL patients, with perivascular infiltration of mast cells suggesting a relationship between inflammation and MPHL. Targeting inflammation may be a potential therapeutic approach for MPHL and FPHL.
