TLDR Four natural compounds were found to promote hair growth effectively.
The study "Effects of Natural Herbal Marker Compounds on Human Dermal Papilla Cell Growth Regulation" tested 32 natural herbal compounds on human hair follicle dermal papilla cells. The impact on mRNA gene expression and Wnt and JAKs signaling transcription factor activities was evaluated. Seven compounds were found to induce growth equal to or greater than minoxidil or tofacitinib. Four compounds (honokiol, isoalantolactone, broussochalcone A, and 3-deoxysappanone B) were found to scientifically induce hair growth. The study suggests these four compounds could be used to develop a natural product for improving hair loss. The study used a CellTiter-Glo® luminescent cell viability assay kit to determine cell survival, and quantitative reverse transcription PCR (RT-PCR) to analyze gene expression changes.

A study that outlines the full model for androgenic alopecia (AGA) which links DHT to cellular senescence in dermal papilla cells, and suggests black chokeberry as a source of cyanidin 3-O-arabinoside polyphenol with potential anti-oxidant properties that could reverse this process. The post encourages reaching out to experts in anti-aging and longevity to research treatments involving the polyphenol.

      community Does finasteride/dutasteride reverse aging?

in Chat  45 upvotes 2 months ago
Finasteride and dutasteride can improve skin texture and reduce acne by lowering DHT but do not reverse aging. They may enhance skin and hair health for some, but can also cause side effects like dry skin and sexual dysfunction.
