This article discusses the limitations of current hair restoration treatments, including minoxidil, finasteride, and hair transplantation, and suggests the need for newer, safer, and more effective treatments for androgenetic alopecia (AGA). The article highlights the role of follicular microinflammation, oxidative stress, and loss of extracellular matrix (ECM) in the pathogenesis of AGA and suggests the development of therapies targeting these pathophysiological phenomena. The article provides a review of novel approaches to hair restoration that have been developed and launched for patient use or are awaiting evidence of efficacy.
