Hair Growth Promoting Effect of Bioactive Extract from Deer Antler Velvet-Loaded Niosomes and Microspicules Serum

    The study investigated the effects of a serum containing deer antler velvet (DAV) extract-loaded niosomes (NIs) and microspicules (MS) on promoting hair growth. The DAV extract at a concentration of 2,000 µg/ml was found to significantly enhance human dermal papilla cell proliferation and aggregation in vitro. The NI formulation showed good characteristics for skin penetration, and when combined with MS serum, it allowed for the highest protein permeation through the skin. An in vivo study with 12 participants (5 males and 7 females, aged 25-40) demonstrated that after 14 and 30 days of application, there was significant hair elongation, increased melanin content, improved skin hydration, and reduced erythema index, indicating that the serum promoted hair growth without causing skin irritation. The study concluded that the NI serum MS containing DAV extract is an effective formulation for enhancing hair growth.
