TLDR Magnesium Silicate Sprays help heal burn wounds and regrow skin features better than commercial products.
The study investigated the use of Green-Prepared Magnesium Silicate Sprays (MSS) in the healing of burn wounds and the regeneration of skin appendages, such as peripheral nerves and hair follicles, in rats and minipigs. The MSS was synthesized using a microwave-assisted method and showed pH-responsive degradation, degrading faster in more acidic solutions. The MSS sprays promoted re-epithelization, neovascularization, collagen deposition, and peripheral nerve and hair follicle regeneration. The MSS-treated group showed a significantly higher healing rate and greater thickness of epidermis than the groups treated with commercial products Dermlin and 45S5 bioglass. The study concluded that MSS sprays could be a promising treatment for burn wounds and hair loss, showing clear advantages over commercial products.
