TLDR A 0.5 mm microneedle roller best promotes hair growth.
The study investigated the effects of microneedle devices on hair growth in C57BL/6 mice, focusing on the optimal needle length and rolling cycles. It was found that a 0.5 mm microneedle roller was most effective in promoting hair growth. The microneedling process influenced the regulation of hair growth-related factors, including VEGF, Wnt3a, Wnt10b, and β-catenin, with a significant increase in VEGF expression. The results suggested that microneedle-induced microwounds could positively impact hair growth and tissue angiogenesis.
