TLDR TNF-${\alpha}$ slows hair growth, and minoxidil doesn't help.
The study investigated the effects of TNF-${\alpha}$ and minoxidil on human hair growth using an in vitro model. It found that TNF-${\alpha}$ inhibited the rate of linear hair growth in cultured hair follicles, while minoxidil did not stimulate hair growth nor protect against the growth inhibition caused by TNF-${\alpha}$. This suggested that TNF-${\alpha}$ had a growth-inhibitory effect on hair follicles, and minoxidil did not counteract this effect.
