TLDR Mesenchymal stem cell secretome shows promise for skin treatments but needs more human trials.
The review discusses the potential of mesenchymal stem cell secretome (SMSC) for external medical applications, particularly in dermatology and cosmetology, due to its regenerative and immune-modulating properties. SMSC is being explored for treating conditions like diabetic wounds, inflammatory diseases, and alopecia, with promising preclinical results in collagen secretion and skin photosensitivity reduction. Despite legislative efforts to integrate SMSC-based products into clinical practice, only cosmetic and veterinary products are currently available in Russia. The review highlights the need for further studies on the safety, effectiveness, and standardization of SMSC production, as existing research primarily focuses on animal models and lacks comprehensive human clinical trials.
