TLDR The new hydrogel treatment promotes faster hair growth and better skin health for hair loss.
The study investigates the use of engineered exosomes biopotentiated hydrogel (Gel@MNs) to treat androgenetic alopecia (AGA) in a mouse model. The Gel@MNs, which incorporate minoxidil and extracellular vesicles, significantly increased hair follicle number and size, improved the perifollicular microenvironment, and promoted angiogenesis. The treatment showed excellent biocompatibility with no significant tissue toxicity or immune response. Histological and transcriptome analyses revealed increased epidermal thickness, higher levels of CD31 and VEGF, and distinct gene expression profiles related to hair growth. The findings suggest that Gel@MNs effectively promote hair follicle growth and are safe for clinical use.
