TLDR Cetosomal minoxidil alone and with finasteride is effective and well-tolerated for hair loss treatment.
The study analyzed the effectiveness and safety of cetosomal minoxidil 5% alone and in combination with finasteride 0.1% in treating androgenetic alopecia (AGA) in 261 patients across 66 centers in India. The results showed that 52% of patients using cetosomal minoxidil alone (Group I) and 68% of those using the combination (Group II) saw significant to excellent improvement after 16 weeks. The product's tolerability was rated as excellent by 64% of Group I and 69% of Group II. In terms of cosmetic acceptability, 64% of Group I and 74% of Group II rated the product as excellent. Only one patient in Group I reported an adverse event (scaling), which resolved spontaneously. The study concluded that cetosomal-based minoxidil solutions are effective and tolerable in managing AGA and could serve as alternatives to alcoholic formulations.
