TLDR The method effectively detects minoxidil in hair-growth products.
The study investigated the electrochemical behavior of minoxidil using various electrodes and buffers, finding that carbon paste electrodes (CPEs) were the most efficient for electrooxidation. High-performance liquid chromatography with an electrochemical detector (HPLC-ECD) was used to detect minoxidil, showing a linear concentration range from 0.02 to 2.6 mg/L and a detection limit of approximately 20 ng/mL. The results from HPLC-ECD were comparable to those obtained using an ultraviolet detector, validating the method's effectiveness for detecting minoxidil in hair-growth pharmaceuticals.
