TLDR Quick, accurate minoxidil measurement in hair loss products using photometric flow titration.
This paper describes a photometric flow titration method for quickly and accurately determining the concentration of minoxidil in commercial hair loss products. The method involves a redox reaction between KMnO and minoxidil and was found to be faster and more efficient than chromatographic procedures. The study used Regaine and Neoxidil products, both of which contained 2% minoxidil, and recoveries from 97.6 to 102.8% were observed depending on the sample. The proposed method is a low-cost and easy alternative for determining minoxidil in commercial samples.

A 24-year-old reported new hair growth on temples after 3.5 months of using topical minoxidil without shedding. They plan to add finasteride to maintain progress, as minoxidil alone may not be enough long-term.
