TLDR Iontophoresis with growth factors safely and effectively promotes hair regrowth without discomfort.
The study evaluated the efficacy and tolerability of preformed growth factors delivered via iontophoresis in 60 patients (30 males and 30 females) with androgenetic alopecia and telogen effluvium over 12 months. The results demonstrated that this technique effectively increased hair regrowth and hair diameter without causing pain or discomfort. The treatment worked by enhancing blood flow to hair follicles, stimulating stem cells, and activating growth factors through neovascularization and neocollagenesis. The study concluded that iontophoresis with growth factors is a safe, non-invasive, and pleasant option for treating androgenetic alopecia, warranting further large-scale clinical trials to validate its efficacy.

community Surprisingly thorough study on He-Shou-Wu/Fo Ti

      in Research/Science  14 upvotes 1 year ago
He Shou Wu (Fo Ti) extract was found to prolong the hair growth phase, inhibit 5-alpha-reductase (like finasteride), reduce androgen receptors, and increase growth factors, potentially outperforming minoxidil in recovering hair follicle size after DHT exposure. Two compounds, emodin and TSG, are identified as responsible for these effects and warrant further investigation.

community microneedle, any long term users damage?

in Microneedling  35 upvotes 5 months ago
Microneedling is effective for hair growth, especially when combined with finasteride and minoxidil, but concerns exist about potential long-term skin damage. Users report increased collagen and elastin deposition, but the long-term effects on the scalp remain uncertain.

Microneedling for hair restoration involves daily use of a 0.3 mm device and weekly use of a 0.5 mm device. Combining microneedling with Minoxidil can enhance hair growth.
