Runx1 was prominent during early morphogenesis and reduced in later stages. Conditional knockout of Runx1 in the epidermis led to structural deformation of zigzag hair types, indicating its crucial role in hair morphogenesis and differentiation. The research suggested that Runx1 might regulate hair structure through interaction with insulin growth factor-I signaling and modulation of Igfbp5 expression, highlighting its significance in hair structure and development.
