TLDR Combining CGF and microneedling with betamethasone effectively treats resistant alopecia areata.
This pilot study evaluated the efficacy of combining concentrated growth factor (CGF) with microneedling-assisted compound betamethasone in treating seven patients with resistant alopecia areata (AA). Over an average of 7.7 treatment sessions, significant hair regrowth was observed, with the mean Severity of Alopecia Tool (SALT) score improving from 11.0% at baseline to 2.0% after follow-up. Additionally, 85.7% of patients experienced complete hair regrowth, and one patient had over 50% regrowth. Dermoscopic features also improved, with reduced yellow and black dots and increased hair density. Minimal adverse events were reported, suggesting that this combination therapy is promising for managing resistant AA, though larger, long-term studies are needed to confirm these findings.
