This study investigated the immunohistochemical distribution of CD34 in various types of basal cell carcinoma (BCC) and surrounding skin. It found that CD34 was absent in neoplastic cells, the epidermis, and fibroblast-like cells of the BCC tumor stroma, except in the nodular type of BCC where some stromal cells were CD34 positive. The juxtatumoral zone showed pronounced CD34 positivity, while the transitional and uninvolved skin exhibited CD34-positive fibroblast-like cells and cell processes. These findings highlight a specific pattern of CD34 distribution, offering insights into the skin's adaptive responses to BCC.
