TLDR Partially bald areas in Indian AGA patients still have hair growth cells, suggesting early treatment is best.
This study investigates the presence of hair follicle progenitor cells in Indian patients with androgenetic alopecia (AGA), a condition affecting 58% of the Indian male population. By analyzing scalp biopsies, researchers found that partially bald areas retain progenitor cells marked by CD34 and Sox9, whereas these cells are absent in completely bald areas. The findings suggest that therapeutic interventions aimed at maintaining and activating these progenitor cells would be most effective during the partially bald stage of AGA.
