Finasteride's link with erectile dysfunction was found stronger in prostate studies than in pattern hair loss studies, though evidence remains limited and long-term sexual side effects warrant discussion. In pattern hair loss, 1,550-nm fractional laser over 12 sessions was reported to increase hair density and shaft diameter. In transplantation, harvested grafts counted against estimates contained more one-hair and fewer three-hair units than predicted. For alopecia universalis, topical tofacitinib and ruxolitinib produced partial regrowth, though clobetasol worked more often. A meta-analysis found contact immunotherapy in alopecia areata produced some regrowth in 65.5% of patients but complete regrowth in only 32.3%. In breast cancer patients, permanent chemotherapy-induced alopecia affected about 42% and was more common after taxane regimens.
