    GlossaryPetechiae

small, red or purple skin spots from broken capillaries

Petechiae are small, red or purple spots on the skin caused by minor bleeding from broken capillary blood vessels. They are typically less than 2 millimeters in diameter and do not blanch when pressed. While they can be harmless and result from minor trauma, they may also indicate more serious conditions such as infections, blood disorders, or other underlying health issues.
