Conducted as a randomized, split-face, single-blinded controlled trial, it involved 22 women, with 18 completing the study. Eflornithine was applied twice daily for 6 months to half of the face after 5-6 IPL treatments. Results showed that eflornithine reduced hair regrowth by 14% at 1 month, 9% at 3 months, and 17% at 6 months compared to no treatment. Patients reported satisfaction with the treatment, although two experienced worsening acne. Overall, eflornithine was well tolerated and showed potential as a self-administered option to maintain IPL-induced hair reduction.
