October 2021 in “International Journal of Research in Ayurveda and Pharmacy” The document reviewed the Ayurvedic topical formulation Priyaladi lepa for managing dandruff, known as Darunaka in Ayurveda. Dandruff, a common scalp disorder, affects nearly half the population and is characterized by itching, hair fall, scaling, and dryness. Priyaladi lepa, recommended in Ayurvedic texts but not widely used, was evaluated for its anti-dandruff efficacy. The study compiled pharmacological attributes from Ayurvedic literature and research databases, finding that the ingredients of Priyaladi lepa exhibited anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, anti-microbial, anti-pruritic, antioxidant, and exfoliation effects. These findings supported further research into Priyaladi lepa for effective dandruff management.
