TLDR Microneedling therapy leads to better treatment adherence than drug therapy for hair loss.
This study on 156 patients with androgenetic alopecia compared treatment adherence between microneedling therapy (70 patients) and drug therapy (86 patients). The microneedling group showed higher adherence, influenced by factors like age, education, income, treatment duration, and side effects. Patients over 30, with higher education and income, and shorter treatment durations adhered better. Improved treatment efficacy and reduced anxiety were linked to better adherence. In the drug group, side effects and treatment efficacy were key, with severe conditions and depression increasing non-adherence. Microneedling reduced side effects and improved mental health, suggesting advantages in adherence. Future research should focus on the long-term efficacy and safety of microneedling.
