TLDR Microneedling is an effective way to treat hair loss from androgenetic alopecia.
The document is a bibliographic review that highlights microneedling as an effective treatment for androgenetic alopecia (AA). The review, which analyzed articles from 2010 to 2020, found that microneedling stimulates hair growth by inducing collagen production and activating growth factors. The technique, which can be used alone or in combination with other therapies, involves rolling a needle-covered cylinder over the scalp to create micro-injuries. Despite its effectiveness, microneedling has contraindications and is not suitable for certain patients, including those with open lesions or certain medical conditions. The healing process post-microneedling includes three phases: inflammatory, proliferative, and remodeling. The document concludes that microneedling is beneficial for AA patients and underscores the importance of dermatologists improving their skills in this technique. An example case showed satisfactory hair growth results with microneedling and daily Minoxidil foam, even with early treatment discontinuation.
