TLDR Drinking a lot of sugary drinks may increase hair loss risk in young women.
This study investigated the link between sugar-sweetened beverage (SSB) consumption and hair loss in 1,169 women aged 18-45 in China. It found that women who consumed SSBs more than 7 times per week or over 1,000 mL per week had a higher likelihood of experiencing hair loss, with an adjusted odds ratio of approximately 2.25. Additionally, anxiety was identified as a mediating factor in this association. The findings suggest that reducing SSB intake could potentially lower the risk of hair loss in young women, although further research is needed to confirm these results and support health education efforts.
