The study demonstrated that soluble CD83 (sCD83) significantly improved and accelerated wound healing in mice by promoting the induction of pro-resolving macrophages and enhancing epithelial stem cell activity. sCD83, applied both systemically and topically, shifted the inflammatory response towards an anti-inflammatory and pro-resolving phenotype, involving immune modulators like IDO1, TGF-β, and IL-10. Mice treated with sCD83 showed faster wound closure and increased hair follicle formation, with complete closure by day 7 compared to day 12 in controls. The treatment altered immune cell composition, reduced scarring, and upregulated pathways associated with wound healing and hair follicle development. These findings suggested that sCD83 had significant pro-regenerative potential, making it a promising candidate for therapeutic applications in wound healing.
