Augmenting Endogenous Wnt Signaling Improves Skin Wound Healing

    The study investigated the role of Wnt signaling in skin wound repair using Axin2(LacZ/+) and Axin2(LacZ/LacZ) mice. It was found that Wnt responsiveness varied with the hair cycle and correlated with wound healing potential. Enhanced Wnt signaling, achieved through genetic modification and topical application of liposomal Wnt3a, improved wound healing in mice. The findings suggested that liposomal Wnt3a could potentially be used in clinical settings to enhance skin repair due to its ability to augment endogenous Wnt signaling.
