TLDR Lower SOD enzyme levels are linked to more severe hair loss in men.
The study investigated the levels of Superoxide Dismutase (SOD) enzyme in men with varying severities of androgenetic alopecia, a condition characterized by progressive hair loss due to genetic and androgenic factors. The research aimed to understand the correlation between SOD enzyme levels and the severity of hair loss, as the enzyme plays a role in protecting cells from oxidative stress, which is implicated in hair follicle miniaturization. The findings suggested that there was a significant difference in SOD levels based on the severity of androgenetic alopecia, indicating that oxidative stress might contribute to the progression of this condition.
