TLDR More severe hair loss links to thicker heart fat, suggesting possible heart disease risk.
The study investigated the relationship between androgenetic alopecia (AGA) severity and epicardial fat thickness (EFT), which is a marker of subclinical atherosclerosis. The study found a positive correlation between AGA severity and EFT, indicating that AGA may be a risk factor for cardiovascular disease. The study involved 60 men with AGA and 60 healthy controls, and EFT was measured using echocardiography. The findings suggest that AGA severity may be a useful marker for identifying individuals at risk of cardiovascular disease.
