TLDR Rosemary-based gel with metformin may effectively treat hair loss like minoxidil.
The study investigates a rosemary-based nanoemulgel loaded with metformin for managing androgenetic alopecia (AGA), using a formulation optimized for effective drug delivery and minimal side effects. Tested on 50 Wistar albino rats, the metformin-loaded nanoemulgel showed promising hair growth effects comparable to minoxidil, with histopathological examination confirming hair follicle growth and skin tolerability. The nanoemulsion achieved a uniform particle size, high entrapment efficiency, and maintained metformin's chemical integrity, suggesting improved drug delivery. This formulation could be a safer, effective alternative to minoxidil, leveraging the synergistic effects of rosemary oil and metformin for alopecia treatment.
