Studysummary This study found that resveratrol significantly alleviated testicular damage in male rats caused by finasteride, which otherwise led to decreased testosterone levels and various histopathological alterations in the testes. Our plain-language summary of this paper — not a Tressless recommendation.
Resveratrol can protect the seminiferous tubules in male rats from damage caused by finasteride, which can lead to infertility. It was found to improve damages caused by finasteride in adult male rats, including a decrease in testosterone and dihydrotestosterone levels, an increase in malondialdehyde levels, and histopathological alterations in the testes. Resveratrol may help improve male reproductive function by reducing damage to the seminiferous tubules caused by finasteride in adult male rats.
