TLDR PRP therapy improves hair density and satisfaction more than Minoxidil for androgenetic alopecia.
This study compared the efficacy of Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy and topical 5% Minoxidil in treating androgenetic alopecia over 12 weeks, involving 50 patients. The PRP group showed a significantly greater increase in hair density and higher patient satisfaction compared to the Minoxidil group. PRP led to an earlier reduction in hair shedding and better follicular strengthening, likely due to growth factor-mediated stimulation. Both treatments were well-tolerated with mild adverse effects. The study concludes that PRP therapy offers superior improvement in hair density and patient satisfaction, suggesting it as an effective option for early to moderate androgenetic alopecia, though larger studies are needed to validate these findings.
