TLDR Platelet-rich plasma helps in skin healing, scar repair, and may boost hair growth in alopecia.
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP), a blood component rich in thrombocytes, secretes seven primary growth factors and has various applications in cosmetic dermatology. These applications include tissue regeneration, wound healing, repairing scar tissue, skin rejuvenation, and treatment for alopecia patients. PRP can accelerate the formation of soft tissue in the subdermal, activate the formation of fibroblasts and new collagen deposition, and stimulate the formation of blood vessels and fat cells. It is also considered a potential therapy for accelerating hair growth in cases of alopecia.
