TLDR Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) treatment effectively reduces hair fall and increases hair growth in patients with Androgenetic Alopecia (AGA), but it may cause pain.
In 2020, Vineetha, Palakkal, and Jaya conducted a prospective study on 20 patients with Androgenetic Alopecia (AGA), aged 18-40 years, using Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) treatment. PRP, prepared via the Manual Double Spin method, was applied every 3 months. The study found that 83% of patients saw a decrease in hair fall, and 72% reported increased hair growth after 3 months. The most common side effect was pain. There was a significant increase in hair density observed at each visit, and a negative correlation was found between the duration of the disease and the increase in hair density. The study concluded that PRP is an effective method for treating AGA.
