TLDR PRP treatment can improve hair density and thickness in male pattern hair loss, but better preparation methods are needed.
The study investigated the effectiveness of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) prepared by a single-spin process in treating male pattern androgenetic alopecia. The results indicated that PRP treatment led to a significant increase in hair density and thickness in the 50 male participants, suggesting PRP could be a promising treatment option for male pattern hair loss. However, the commentary noted that the single-spin method often failed to achieve the ideal platelet concentration of ≥1 million platelets/μl, unlike the double-spin method, which produced better clinical outcomes. It emphasized the need for standardized PRP preparation methods and further clinical trials to validate PRP's efficacy in hair restoration.
