TLDR ADSC therapy is more effective and safer for treating photoaged skin than PRP.
This study compared the effects of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs) on photoaged skin in 20 individuals. PRP treatment resulted in unwanted changes, such as fibrosis and increased thickness of the reticular dermis due to collagen deposition and mononuclear cell infiltration. In contrast, ADSC therapy showed promising antiaging effects, including neoelastogenesis, increased tropoelastin and fibrillin, and improved solar elastosis. These changes were associated with enhanced macrophage polarization and matrix proteinase activity, suggesting effective dermal remodeling. Overall, ADSC therapy demonstrated significant potential for treating photoaged skin.
