TLDR The essential oils nanoemulsion promotes hair growth better than 2% minoxidil in mice.
The study developed a nanoemulsion containing lavender, peppermint, and rosemary essential oils (LPR) to promote hair growth, comparing its effectiveness to 2% topical minoxidil. Conducted on 15 C57BL/6 mice over 4 weeks, the optimized nanoemulsion (EM-5) showed small droplet size, stability, and mild antioxidant activity. It demonstrated sustained skin permeation and significant hair growth, achieving full dorsal coverage by day 21, similar to minoxidil. Histological analysis confirmed increased follicle count and depth. The LPR nanoemulsion is a promising natural alternative for hair growth, attributed to the synergistic effects of its essential oils.
