TLDR Watercress oil may promote hair growth by activating specific receptors.
The study analyzed the chemical composition and hair growth-promoting properties of watercress oil (WCO) marketed in Saudi Arabia using GC-MS and in-silico methods. It identified 65.65% fatty acids, including oleic and palmitic acids, and confirmed the oil's safety with a pH of 5.53 and no toxic substances. Molecular docking showed that these fatty acids, except Docosanol, activated MAPK1, MAPK3, and MAPKp38 receptors, which are involved in hair growth regulation. The research supported the traditional use of warm oil application to enhance absorption and recommended further in-vitro studies to establish pharmacological mechanisms.

A user is seeing good results with RU58841 for hair loss, noting reduced shedding and thicker hair. They plan to use pumpkin seed oil as a solvent to avoid water content, which they believe reduces the effectiveness of anti-androgens.

Minoxidil with alcohol and propylene glycol was more effective than non-alcohol versions, and RU58841 worked best in a non-water-based solution. Oral finasteride showed better results than topical, despite side effects; microneedling and tretinoin worsened hair loss, and PRP was only helpful when younger.

The user shared their 5-year hair loss journey, initially using a product called Triphasic Progressive by Rene Furterer, which gave good results. Later, they switched to FDA-approved medications finasteride and minoxidil, which also helped, but they noticed the most significant progress with Triphasic. They're considering trying it again if minoxidil doesn't show improvements.
