TLDR Food intake, not genetics, affects how the body processes tadalafil and finasteride.
The study concludes that the pharmacokinetic variability of tadalafil and finasteride is primarily influenced by food administration rather than genetic variants. Data from multiple clinical trials involving 66 male volunteers and 189 male and female volunteers showed significant differences in drug absorption and metabolism under fasting and fed conditions. Food intake increased the area under the curve (AUC∞), maximum plasma concentration (Cmax), and time to reach Cmax (tmax) for both drugs. No significant genetic associations were found after correction. These findings suggest that dietary factors should be carefully considered when prescribing these medications to ensure optimal efficacy and safety.
