Evaluation of platelet-rich plasma as a treatment for androgenetic alopecia: A randomized controlled trial
November 2020
in “Journal of The American Academy of Dermatology”
TLDR PRP treatment improves hair density and thickness for alopecia, but needs more research.
A randomized controlled trial from two years ago found that platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatment may be an effective treatment for androgenetic alopecia (AGA), as the PRP group showed a significant increase in hair density and thickness compared to the placebo group after 12 weeks. However, further research is needed to determine its long-term effectiveness and optimal protocols for treatment. PRP is a promising option for those with AGA with low risk of side effects.
