Efficacy of Intralesional and Oral Dutasteride in the Treatment of Androgenetic Alopecia: A Systematic Review
October 2020
in “Skin appendage disorders”
TLDR Oral dutasteride works better for hair loss, but has more sexual side effects; intralesional dutasteride is a possible alternative.
This systematic review analyzed the efficacy and safety of intralesional and oral dutasteride in treating androgenetic alopecia. The study found that both treatments were effective, but oral dutasteride appeared to be more effective than intralesional dutasteride. However, oral dutasteride had more reported sexual adverse events. Intralesional dutasteride may be a feasible alternative for those unwilling to receive systemic treatment, but more clinical trials evaluating its efficacy and safety are needed.
