TLDR The oral supplement improved hair loss in patients with telogen effluvium.
The study evaluated the effectiveness and tolerability of an oral supplement (Cystiphane®) containing arginine, l-cystine, zinc, and B6 vitamin in treating telogen effluvium (TE), a common cause of non-scarring hair loss. The study involved 20 patients aged between 18 and 70 years old, who were asked to take the supplement four times daily for three months. After the treatment period, 18 patients were evaluated, and the researcher noted an average improvement of 2.89 in the clinical evaluation. Trichoscopy showed an increase in hair quantity (+2.055) and hair diameter (+1.83). Patients rated the efficacy of the treatment at an average of 3.61. The study concluded that the oral supplement was effective as an adjuvant in the treatment of TE.
