TLDR Finasteride 1 mg significantly improves hair growth in men aged 41 to 60 with male pattern hair loss.
A 24-month double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled study involving 424 men aged 41 to 60 years with mild-to-moderate vertex male pattern hair loss demonstrated that finasteride 1 mg significantly improved hair growth compared to placebo. Efficacy was assessed through global photographs, patient self-assessments, and investigator clinical assessments at 6-month intervals. Significant hair growth improvement was observed from Month 6 and maintained through Month 24 (p < 0.001). The treatment was generally well tolerated, with safety analyses including clinical and laboratory adverse experiences.
